Mawdesley Methodist Church

(a Church in the Lancashire West Methodist Circuit)

Our Mission Statement

Mawdesley Methodist Church exists to promote the worship of  God, to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit to serve its neighbours in Christ at home and abroad.  It seeks to play its part in transforming the unjust structures of society and promoting strong communities based on Christian values.

There has been a Methodist presence in Mawdesley since the early 1800s at least. Our present building was opened in 1905.

Today Mawdesley Methodist Church is here to serve God in the community of Mawdesley village and beyond.

We are glad to work in partnership with our Christian friends at the Parish Church and the RC Church with whom we share regularly in village events and at the major Christian festivals.

We take seriously our commitment to work within the community, we are proud of our links with the local schools and Uniformed Organisations.

Along with other Churches in the village we take our turn in hosting special school services and parade services .

All the activities organised by our church are open to anyone, you don’t have to be a member to join in.

We aim to be a welcoming Church. If you are looking for someone to share an interest, for friendship,

for support through difficult times, for Christian fellowship we might just be able to help you.

Most importantly we are a worshipping community of Christian believers.

Worship is at the heart of our Church’s life.

Services are on Sundays

10.30am every week

From September 2010 we shall meet in the schoolroom for informal Bible study at 6.30pm on the first Sunday of the month

Every fortnight or so a lively bunch of Church members meet for Bible study or discussion about our faith.

This is a non-threatening opportunity to Talk about God and what faith means to us in our day to day lives.

Look out for details in the weekly Church Notices and come and join us!

We are glad to share in this with friends from the other two Churches in the village

At the moment we are reading John's Gospel together.
